By Motorsports Monday

For a driver to be at their best, especially on opening race day, mindset preparations begin the moment they arrive at the track. Having a solid, consistent arrival and mindset routine, allow drivers to help ease some of the overwhelming demands of the day. Allowing them to focus on the tasks at hand. This consistent routine help provide a driver a foundation for success, and provides them the clarity, focus, and unwavering confidence needed to be at their best. Here are 15 tips to help racers develop their own race day success routine.

  1. Grounding and Centering:

Find a quiet space (e.g., the hauler or designated area) to take some time and center themselves. This helps to quiet the mental chatter. Some drivers use meditation or visualization techniques.

Meet with the crew chief and team to review the day's schedule, race strategy, and any last-minute adjustments. This ensures everyone is aligned and on the same page.
